can we stop with the poor jason thing already

I keep seeing this poor Jason stuff all over the sub and I'm not trying to start a hate thread because I actually like the guy. But the narrative people are building around him feels like it needs some selective memory to work.

Yeah he had a rough childhood. Nobody's denying that. But the army was his way out. He got out of that life and then chose to go back. He wasn't forced into crime after his service, he had other paths available and he still picked the one with guns. He even says he's more comfortable when there's a gun involved. He's picking what he's good at, plain and simple.

So when people go "poor Jason, Lucia's gonna destroy him" it kind of requires ignoring that he made his own choices. It also turns Lucia into this "ambitious woman ruins good man" cliché, which feels lazy. Nothing we've seen so far shows her dragging him into anything. He was already doing this before she came along.

Am I off base here or does anyone else see it this way?
