I have added completely realistic Uber driving to Grand Theft Auto 5

Stumbled on this PC Gamer piece about a GTA 5 mod that adds "completely realistic Uber driving." The entire article body is just: "Your driver is nearby."

That's it. No explanation, no screenshots, no mod download link. Just the one line. I had to double check I wasn't missing a collapsed section.

I get the joke though. Realistic Uber driving in GTA 5 would be painful. You request a ride, the driver circles the block three times, cancels, then you get charged a fee anyway. Or they show up, see your wanted level, and drive off. Rockstar's NPC drivers already do half of that.

Makes me think about GTA 6 and how they're handling civilian jobs and side activities. The map is huge and there's a lot of ambient stuff going on. Would Rockstar ever add a ride share system as a legit activity? Probably not as a main thing, but as a random event or a way to make money early on it could work. Lucia and Jason are small time criminals, so driving people around for cash fits that vibe. You pick someone up in Port Gellhorn, they want to go to Vice City, and halfway there they ask to change the destination. Then they leave a one star review because you took a shortcut through the swamp.

Or maybe modders will just do it for GTA 6 on PC whenever that happens. The GTA 5 mod scene has been keeping that game alive for over a decade. Some of those roleplay servers already have full taxi and delivery jobs with ratings and everything. A realistic Uber mod is basically a step away from what FiveM servers run daily.

Anyway, the article being one line is the funniest part. PC Gamer really committed to the bit. Would you actually want a ride share system in GTA 6, or is that too much real life in your crime game?
