This LA Noire Spinoff Idea Sounds Incredible

Saw Rahul Kohli chatting with BAFTA Games about an LA Noire follow up and his pitch is actually solid. He wants a spinoff that jumps through time periods, same cop, different crimes. Victorian England hunting Jack the Ripper, 80s California chasing the Night Stalker. He said he'd be down for that kind of anthology setup.

The part that got me was his take on the facial capture tech. He loved Team Bondi's system from the original, the way you could read tiny eyebrow movements to tell if someone was lying. He doesn't want an improved version. He wants the same tech and same engine because that jank was part of the charm. I get that. The interrogation scenes felt like nothing else at the time.

LA Noire came out in 2011 and Team Bondi disbanded after. We got the VR Case Files in 2017 but that was more of a tech demo. Rockstar said back in 2012 that a sequel was possible, they just don't rush sequels and bandwidth is always the issue. Earlier this year Take-Two's boss mentioned they're looking at future projects across all their franchises, including LA Noire. So the door isn't closed.

With GTA 6 out in a month, Rockstar's plate is full for a while. But if they ever circle back to this series, a Jack the Ripper case with that old interrogation system would be an instant buy for me.
