GTA 6 age rating suggests a more explicit game than GTA 5, singling out "sex scenes"

Saw the GamesRadar piece about the GTA 6 age rating and it's kind of funny this is even news. The rating apparently singles out sex scenes specifically, which GTA 5's never did. The article's whole point is basically "the only surprising thing is that GTA 5's rating didn't also say this."

Rockstar's been pretty open about GTA 6 being more grounded and mature than what came before. GTA 5 had the strip clubs and prostitutes and all that but it was always played for laughs, never really treated as anything serious. If the rating board is calling out sex scenes by name, that tells me Rockstar actually wrote some real relationship stuff into this game. Not just the usual GTA gag content.

Lucia and Jason are a couple, we know that much from the trailers. So it makes sense there'd be actual scenes between them that go further than anything in 5. I remember when the first trailer dropped and people were analyzing every frame of that motel scene. Everyone assumed there was something going on there. Turns out the rating board basically confirmed it.

The funny part is the article's one-liner about GTA 5. Like yeah, GTA 5 had plenty of explicit content but the rating never felt the need to single out sex scenes. That's probably because it was all so juvenile and surface level. Nobody at the ratings board was worried about Trevor's encounters with hookers, those were just transactions.

If GTA 6 is getting flagged for actual sex scenes, that's a different thing entirely. That's Rockstar treating the relationship between the two protagonists as something real, not a punchline. I'm genuinely curious how far they go with it. Not in a weird way, just in a "how much did they actually commit to this" way.

Rockstar's never been shy about pushing the rating. Every GTA has been M or 18+ or whatever the local equivalent is. But there's a difference between "contains nudity and sexual content" and "contains sex scenes." One is a checklist item, the other is the rating board actually watching something and going "okay, that's a scene."

I don't think this changes anything about the game's quality or whatever. It's just another sign that Rockstar went all in on the Lucia and Jason dynamic. And honestly, after everything we've seen, that's the thing I'm most excited about. Two protagonists who actually have a relationship, not just three strangers who occasionally do heists together.
