former nintendo marketing lead says she'd pick gta 6 over ocarina remake too
!["I would 100% prioritize [GTA], and now I don't have to": Ex-Nintendo marketing lead says "thank god" the Zelda Ocarina of Time remake is dodging GTA 6, because even she'd pick Rockstar](https://pub-564f07cad73b4e4aa25ab345f7455b76.r2.dev/ingested/01535c9aa8984aaff74e6a6cc11043b4b48c812456da455fe9f0363ad25761ae.jpg)
Saw this on GamesRadar and it's one of those little industry moments that says a lot. A former Nintendo marketing lead was talking about the Ocarina of Time remake and basically admitted she'd choose GTA 6 over it if both launched at the same time. She's relieved the Zelda remake isn't going head to head with Rockstar's game, because even she knows which one would win.
That's not a knock on Zelda. Ocarina of Time is one of the most beloved games ever, and a proper remake is a massive deal. But GTA 6 is a different kind of event. It's the kind of release that makes other publishers move their dates, and hearing someone from Nintendo's old guard say it out loud is rare. Usually these companies keep that stuff internal.
She apparently said something like "I would 100 percent prioritize GTA, and now I don't have to." I'm paraphrasing from the article, but the point stands. Even the people who spent years marketing Mario and Zelda know that GTA 6 is the biggest thing in gaming right now. The cultural weight is just on another level.
GTA 6 hits November 19, and the Ocarina remake is supposedly landing in a different window. Good for both games honestly. Zelda fans get their moment, GTA fans get theirs, and nobody has to choose between two huge releases in the same week. I've got friends who would've bought both, but their wallets are already crying from the $79.99 standard edition and the Ultimate Edition at $99.99. Adding a Zelda remake on top would've been brutal.
This is just another sign of how dominant GTA 6 is in the release calendar. Rockstar doesn't even need to do much marketing, the game markets itself at this point.
