GTA 6 will seemingly only launch with the single-player campaign in November

No GTA Online at launch — single-player first

Well, looks like we called it. Rockstar's latest press release about GTA 6 pre-orders going live at midnight conveniently left out any mention of an online mode, which pretty much confirms what a lot of us suspected: when the game drops on November 19th, it's going to be the story campaign and nothing else.

Honestly? I'm not mad about this. GTA V's Online mode didn't launch alongside the single-player either, and we all know how that turned out — it became a juggernaut. Giving the campaign its own spotlight without splitting the playerbase on day one makes sense. Let people actually experience the story without the distraction of online chaos.

The press release confirming pre-orders going live at midnight made zero mention of GTA Online, which speaks volumes about what's included at launch.

Also worth noting from the same announcement: if you're grabbing a physical copy, don't expect a disc. That's right — even the boxed version is apparently just a download code. Bit of a bummer for collectors, but not surprising given where the industry's headed.

So the real question now is how long we'll be waiting for GTA Online to drop. Weeks? Months? Rockstar's being tight-lipped, but if history's any indicator, we might be looking at a decent gap. Some folks will be frustrated, but honestly, a focused single-player experience at launch could be a blessing in disguise.

What do you think — is launching without Online the right move, or are you already itching to hit the streets with friends?

This is actually interesting from a mechanics perspective. When V launched without Online, we had that window where the single-player physics were untouched — the car deformation, the ragdoll behavior, all of it felt different before patches started rolling through for Online stability. Curious if we'll see the same thing here: a pure period where the physics quirks are just there before Rockstar tightens things up for multiplayer netcode.

This lines up with what we've been seeing between the lines. The official marketing has only ever shown story content — every screenshot, every trailer beat, all focused on Lucia and that narrative. Rockstar doesn't accidentally omit things.

That said, I don't think this is purely about giving single-player its moment. GTA V's Online launched two weeks after the console release, but that was 2013. The infrastructure expectations are way higher now. They're probably buying time to make sure the servers don't implode on day one — we all remember how that went.

My bet? We're looking at a 4-8 week window, probably dropping alongside a title update right before holiday shopping season kicks into gear.

Honestly? Kinda bummed. Yeah the story gets its moment, but the real tuning scene lives online. Car meets, drift lobbies, cruising Vice City with the crew — that's where the culture breathes. But hey, silver lining: gives us time to learn the roads, map out the good touge spots, and figure out which rides are worth building before Online drops and everyone's fighting over the same meta swaps.

Just hope they don't nerf the good stuff before we even get our hands on it.
