dan houser's next games are getting revealed soon and one's an open world
Didn't expect this today. Dan Houser, the guy who basically wrote most of the GTA stories up through V, is finally pulling back the curtain on whatever he's been cooking since leaving Rockstar.
Insider Gaming is reporting that he's confirmed his next games are about to be properly revealed. Two projects apparently. One is an open-world game and the other is a dystopian sci-fi title. That's all the detail we have right now, no names, no platforms, no dates. Just that the reveal is coming.
As someone who grew up on his writing, I'm curious how much of that old Rockstar DNA shows up in whatever he does next. The man had a hand in some of the most quotable dialogue and wildest missions in gaming. An open-world game from him without the Rockstar machine behind it could go a lot of ways. Maybe it'll feel like a spiritual successor, maybe it'll be its own thing entirely.
I'm not expecting it to compete with GTA 6 or anything. That ship has sailed and my hype is still fully locked on Vice City for November. But if anyone can make a new open world with personality, it's probably him. The dystopian sci-fi angle is interesting too, feels like a departure from the crime satire he's known for.
Either way, more Houser writing in games is good news. I'll keep half an eye on this while I'm counting down the days to Leonida.
