torching your car is probably just mission flavor again, not a wanted system mechanic
I keep seeing people treat that car torching bit from the gameplay preview like it's some new wanted system feature. The way they talk you'd think lighting your ride on fire makes the heat drop faster or stops cops from tracing you. I don't buy it.
In GTAV there were a handful of missions where you got told to torch the getaway car under a bridge or in a garage so the cops couldn't find evidence. It felt cool in the moment. But outside those scripted moments it did absolutely nothing. You could leave your car sitting in the middle of the street and the wanted level behaved the same. Getting out and stealing something else was the only thing that mattered.
Watching the GTA6 footage again, the wanted icons up top don't budge when they set the car on fire. If torching actually lowered your wanted level or made the search end sooner, you'd expect some visual feedback. There's none. That tells me it's the same deal, mission flavor for immersion, not a mechanic you're supposed to use every time.
I've seen people speculate about fingerprints and GPS tracing, like if the cops find your abandoned car they'll identify you and the wanted level goes up. That would be cool but there's zero evidence. Rockstar hasn't shown anything like that. If it existed they'd probably hint at it in the preview or the marketing. They love showing off new systems.
I think people are reading way too much into a scripted moment. The wanted system might be more realistic overall, sure, but this specific thing looks like hopium. It's a cool set piece, not a strategy.
