anyone else notice the waterways all connect? boats might be the real fast travel
Was looking at the map again and something clicked. All the rivers and canals and whatever else, they're not just scattered around. They actually run through the whole state of Leonida. Like one big connected network.
That means you could probably hop in a boat in Vice City and ride all the way up to Port Gellhorn or wherever without ever touching land. No fast travel, no stealing a helicopter. Just follow the water.
I know we've had boats in previous games but the map design never really encouraged using them for actual travel. This feels different. Rockstar put a lot of effort into the waterways this time, at least from what we've seen in the trailers and the extended look. The Keys especially look like they were built around boat access.
One thing I really hope they add is GPS auto-pathfinding on water. In GTA V you could set a waypoint and the line would just cut straight across the ocean, which was useless for boats because you'd hit sandbars or shallow areas. If the game can route you along the actual navigable channels, that would make getting around by boat way smoother. Almost like a proper nautical chart.
Also wondering if there'll be different boat types for different waterways. A big yacht probably won't fit in some of the narrower rivers, but a jet ski or a small dinghy might. Would be cool if you had to plan your route based on what you're driving.
I haven't seen many people talking about this, so maybe I'm overthinking it. But the map really does look like it was designed with water travel as a core option, not just a side activity.
Think Rockstar will actually give us boat GPS or are we stuck with the old straight-line waypoint?
