naughty dog alum says the scale of gta 6 is intimidating, wants shorter games

Saw a piece where a former Last of Us and Uncharted 4 dev talked about how the idea of a game as massive as GTA 6 or Elder Scrolls 6 just feels intimidating to them. They said they'd rather see more short games. They even brought up The Last of Us 2 and said that felt too long to them, which is wild because that game never felt bloated to me.
I get where they're coming from. A lot of devs have been talking about how unsustainable these 100 hour open worlds are. But as someone who's been waiting years for GTA 6, the size is exactly what I want. I don't need every game to be a 200 hour thing, but Rockstar's worlds are the one place where I actually want to get lost for months.
There's room for both. Short games are great when I'm busy, but November 19 I'm clearing my calendar. If GTA 6 ends up being intimidatingly huge, that's exactly what I'm paying for.
