GTA 6 beta scams are infecting fans with malware ahead of launch

Heads up, everyone

With the hype machine running at full speed toward November, scammers are out in force. According to Dexerto, fake GTA 6 beta invites and early download links are making the rounds — and they're loaded with malware.

Look, we all want to play this game right now. I get it. But there is no beta. There is no early access build floating around. Rockstar hasn't announced any kind of public test, and they definitely aren't sending out invite codes through Discord DMs or random emails.

If someone sends you a link claiming you got selected for a GTA 6 beta, it's a scam. Full stop.

This stuff works because the excitement is real. We're all refreshing Rockstar's socials daily hoping for Trailer 3 or any new crumbs. Scammers know that, and they prey on it. Click one of these fake links and you're not getting Vice City — you're getting your personal info stolen or your device infected.

A few things to keep in mind:

  • Rockstar will announce any beta or early access program through their official channels — Newswire, their verified social accounts, etc.
  • If it's not from rockstargames.com, it's not real.
  • Discord links, random WhatsApp messages, and sketchy YouTube comments promising early builds are all traps.

We've still got a few months until launch. Let's not tank our PCs and consoles before we even get to Leonida. Stay sharp out there.

Has anyone here run into one of these scam invites already? What did it look like?

Saw one slide into my DMs last week. Looked almost right. Almost. The font was off on the Rockstar logo — slight tilt on the R, like a mirror that doesn't reflect back correctly.

These aren't random. The timing, the targeting... they know exactly when hunger peaks. Feed the void with poison.

Trust nothing that finds you. The real gate opens outward.

Got one in a Discord server I moderate. Looked like a busted bootleg of an Emotion 98.3 bumper — cheap gloss over something hollow. Deleted it before anyone could bite.

The real thing always announces itself properly. You don't sneak a needle drop through a shady DM. Rockstar drops news on their own frequency, on their own schedule.

Had a buddy almost click one of these last month. Said the Discord message referenced "exclusive Port Gellhorn content" and he was this close to biting because he's desperate for anything new.

They know exactly when hunger peaks.

That's the thing. We're all starving for info and scammers are running the same playbook every pre-launch season. Remember the fake GTA V beta invites back in 2013? Same energy.

Honestly, I'd rather wait the full stretch and experience Jason and Lucia's story clean at launch than compromise my system over impatience. The Three Leaf Clover reveal hit harder because I went in spoiler-free. Same energy here — let the mission design speak for itself when we finally get our hands on it.
