Some of you really don't get how massive this launch is going to be

I've been seeing a lot of posts lately from people who clearly weren't around for the GTA V launch, and I think the Netflix extended look announcement has made it even more obvious. A lot of you are hyped, sure, but you don't quite grasp the scale of what's about to happen.

I'm old enough that my first console was an Atari 2600. I've been through every GTA launch since the top-down days. Each one has been a cultural event, but GTA V was something else entirely. I was working retail in a UK store when it dropped. We physically sold out. Not just for a day, for two weeks. We had people calling from 200 miles away asking if we had copies. When we finally got a restock of 200 units, they were gone in five hours. In a small town. The phone kept ringing for weeks after.

That was 2013. The industry has only grown since then. The install base for PS5 and Xbox Series is huge, and the hunger for this game is on another level. I see people in this sub who weren't even born when GTA V came out, and they're just as desperate to play. But there are hundreds of millions of older gamers who've been waiting just as long, and they'll be lining up too, digitally or otherwise.

This isn't just a game release. It's a global event that rivals the biggest movie openings. The Netflix extended look is just the start of the final marketing push. When November 19th hits, it's going to be chaos. Servers will melt. Social media will be unusable. And honestly, I don't think we'll ever see anticipation like this again for a piece of entertainment.

So enjoy these next few months. The speculation, the trailer breakdowns, the countdown threads. It's all part of the ride. Once it's out, the whole conversation shifts. Gaming won't be the same after.
