GTA 6 is making people buy consoles again, and retailers are getting nervous about stock

Caught a post on Reddit that really hit on something I've been noticing. For years it felt like no single game could move hardware on its own anymore. Most of the big titles were cross-gen, and a lot of people just stuck with their PS4 or Xbox One because there wasn't that one must-have reason to upgrade.

Now retailers are reporting a real spike in console demand ahead of GTA 6. Some are even worried about stock shortages later this year. That's wild when you think about how many people skipped this generation entirely. It's like the whole industry has been waiting for Rockstar to give them a reason to finally pull the trigger.

I can't remember the last time a game had this kind of pull. Maybe the original Red Dead Redemption? Or GTA V on the 360/PS3? But even then, it didn't feel quite like this. The hype around GTA 6 is on another level, and it's actually pushing hardware sales months before launch.

What was the last game that made you buy a console, upgrade your PC, or seriously consider it?
