vehicle handling team is literally race car drivers, driving is gonna be insane
So the people tuning the vehicle physics are actual race car drivers. That's wild. I don't know why that surprises me but it does, and it makes me way more confident about how driving will feel.
From the footage we've seen, every car seems to have its own personality. The Donk from today's stuff looks like it wants to roll over if you corner too hard. The Bugatti looked glued to the road, just putting power down without drama. The pickup truck had a loose rear end, like it's ready to slide.
I'm most hyped for the dirt cars though. The Vapid Dominator buggy from the Ultimate Edition is the one I keep thinking about. If the handling is this detailed, off-road stuff is going to be a whole different game. In GTA 5 you could take a supercar up a mountain and it would just bounce around but still work. Here it sounds like that won't fly. A Lamborghini on a dirt trail is probably going to be miserable, and I love that.
Rockstar has always been good with car feel but this sounds like a step up. Race car drivers tuning the physics means they actually care about weight transfer, grip, all that stuff. I just hope the arcade fun is still there. GTA isn't a sim and it shouldn't be, but having cars that feel distinct is exactly what I want.
