do you think gta 6 online will be less toxic than gta 5?

I've been thinking about this a lot lately. All the talk about realism and grounded gameplay has me hoping Rockstar actually does something about the online community this time around. GTA 5 online turned into a mess where people just farm kills for the scoreboard. You'd be driving around and some guy in a jet would blow you up for no reason, then message you "1-0" like it means anything.

I'm not saying PVP should go away. I just want it to mean something. Like if there's a drug shipment or a weapons convoy, you fight over that. Once the product is secured, it's over. You got paid, you move on. Similar to looter shooters where you go out to grab something valuable, maybe run into other players, deal with it, and that's the end of it. Not this endless griefing over a kill counter that resets every session anyway.

A few things I'd love to see:

  • Player blips off by default, or only show up when you're really close. RDR2 did this and it made encounters way more interesting. You'd actually have to pay attention instead of watching the map for red dots.
  • Free aim lobbies. Let the people who want aim assist play together, and let the rest of us actually aim. It changes the whole feel of gunfights.
  • No public K/D stat or kill count between players. That stat is the root of so much toxicity. People obsess over it and turn every session into a deathmatch.

The confirmed tweaks already help. Limited to two primaries means you can't carry an entire armory. More realistic movement means you can't bunny hop around like a maniac. Those are steps in the right direction.

I know Rockstar probably won't fix everything. But if they even do half of this, the online experience could be way less annoying than what we've had for the last decade. I'm cautiously optimistic.
