rdr2 still surprises me 8 years on, gta 6 is gonna be insane
Been slowly working through a 100% run in RDR2 story mode and it's kind of embarrassing how much I missed the first few times. Eight years later and I'm still running into random events and little NPC interactions I've never seen before. The game just refuses to feel empty.
What gets me is how alive it all still feels. Not in a checklist way, more like the world keeps doing its own thing whether I'm there or not. I'll ride past some camp and suddenly there's a whole conversation happening that I had no idea existed.
If Rockstar managed that level of detail back in 2018, I don't even know what to expect from GTA 6. People keep throwing around numbers, map three times the size, double the animations, way more world events and secrets and collectibles. Even if half of that is true, the density of stuff to stumble into could be absurd.
I'm not worried about the main story or the set pieces. Those are always solid. I'm more curious about the quiet moments, the random stuff that only triggers under weird conditions, the NPCs who remember you, the little environmental storytelling tucked into corners nobody checks. That's the stuff that made RDR2 stick with me, and it's the stuff I think GTA 6 will blow people away with.
November can't come soon enough. If the world is even half as reactive as RDR2's, I'll probably still be finding new things in Vice City when the next console generation is already out.
