kaplan talking about not wanting the spotlight got me thinking about rockstar's silence on gta 6

Saw that GameSpot interview with Jeff Kaplan about his Overwatch days and it hit a nerve. He was basically saying he's not an extrovert, doesn't like attention, but he put himself out there because the game needed a face. He called it doing a job for his team. That part stuck with me.
Kaplan talked about the toxicity too. Players would go after him and other devs whenever there was a content drought or hero changes. Blizzard found that dumping a ton of content helped shift the mood, but there was never a real fix. And when he left in 2021, he said the withdrawal was actually soothing. Stopped reading subreddits, stopped checking where his name showed up. He said it was pretty great.
Reading that, I couldn't help but think about Rockstar and GTA 6. We're a month out from launch and the devs are basically ghosts. No one is out there being the face of this thing. No Kaplan equivalent doing developer updates or taking questions from fans. Rockstar just drops a trailer or a screenshot and disappears again.
Part of me used to hate that silence. I wanted someone to explain delays, talk about features, acknowledge the community. But after reading Kaplan's side of it, maybe the silence is a blessing for the people actually making the game. GTA fans can be brutal. The delay threads alone were a mess. Imagine if there was one specific person we could all direct that anger at. It would get ugly fast.
Kaplan said being the face came at a personal cost. I don't think Rockstar wants that for anyone on the GTA 6 team. And honestly, after seeing how some people talk about Strauss Zelnick or even Sam Houser when they do speak, I get why they stay quiet.
Do you think Rockstar's silence is protecting the devs from the kind of crap Kaplan dealt with, or is it just their usual secrecy and we're reading too much into it?
