rockstar co-founder wanted that rdr ending twist in several gta games

I always figured Rockstar knew exactly what they were doing with that RDR ending. Turns out they didn't expect so many players to be livid about it. A co-founder apparently said as much, and the part that gets me is he wanted the same twist in several GTA games.
Not saying which GTA games, but that's the kind of thing that makes me look at Lucia and Jason a little differently. If Rockstar has been sitting on this ending idea for years and finally has the tech or the story to pull it off, GTA 6 might be where they actually do it.
I remember finishing RDR and just staring at the screen. The ending wasn't bad. It just felt so final. If they'd done that to Niko or CJ or Franklin, people would have lost their minds. Maybe that's why they held off. The co-founder mentioned it was a mechanical challenge for several reasons, which makes me think the older games just couldn't handle the switch the way they wanted.
Now with GTA 6 having two protagonists and all the stuff we've seen in the extended look, the pieces are there. I'm not saying it's going to happen, but if Rockstar wanted to do a certain kind of ending for years and finally has the hardware and the story structure for it, this would be the game.
My take is Rockstar knows exactly how attached people get to these characters, and they still might do it anyway. That's the part that scares me a little. But also kind of excites me, because nobody else does endings like that.
