rockstar put rdr2 level detail into a random iguana and i can't stop staring

Caught the iguana in the new footage and I've been staring at it for way too long. The scales, the way it moves, the little eye. It's ridiculous.

I remember when RDR2 came out and everyone lost their minds over the horse detail. Rockstar has always been obsessed with animals. But I didn't expect them to carry that over to a random lizard in GTA 6. This thing looks like it could crawl right off the screen. The skin texture alone is better than most full character models in other games.

Makes me wonder what else they've hidden in the wildlife. We've seen gators in the trailers, obviously. But if they're putting this much work into an iguana, imagine what the dogs or birds or whatever else in Leonida look like. The Keys are probably full of little critters like this.

I know some people think this level of detail is a waste of time. But for me it's exactly why I'll spend the first week just walking around Vice City and the Keys, not even doing missions. Just watching animals do their thing.

Anyone else catch any other animals that looked way too good? I feel like I missed half of them because I was too busy looking at the cars.

That cost me my first week in RDR2 too, cataloging animals for the compendium instead of touching the story. I finished that game at 100 percent, so I can't judge. If Leonida's wildlife ties into any completion stat, the iguana staring is fully justified. If it doesn't, it's still a detour I'm taking.

never played rdr2 so i'm learning about the horse thing from this thread lmao. if a lizard looks this good i'm gonna need someone to remind me missions exist

The iguana's fine, whatever. What I want is that RDR2 budget going into the K9 units. A police dog that actually tracks scent would change foot pursuits completely, and Leonida is perfect for it. Also give me animal control callouts. Gator in a swimming pool in the Keys, that's free emergent gameplay.

The gator-in-a-pool idea is exactly where I'd test the physics first. Might be wrong, but that seems like prime clipping territory.
