Had the GTA VI trailer running on my dashboard and figured I'd test something out. This is my 2001 Audi A4, and the gear knob is not factory. I took a smartwatch I had sitting around, embedded it into a shifter I built, and set it up to show gear position. Now it cycles through GTA VI boot screens too.

The dash display is an old tablet I rescued and mounted where the original multimedia unit used to be. Nothing here was bought for this project. It's all parts I already owned and didn't want to toss.

I wasn't planning to do a GTA crossover. The trailer timing just lined up and it felt too good not to share. The shifter shows the boot animation when the car starts, which is honestly a nice little touch before I even touch the radio.

It's janky in places, the smartwatch is a few years old and the tablet isn't exactly fast, but it works. I've been messing with old car tech for a while and this is the first time it's felt worth posting. If you've got an old tablet or watch lying around, this kind of thing is doable without spending anything.

This is the kind of dumb crossover I needed before November.
