Sony's digital future is good due to "convenience" and games like GTA 6 being "too big," dev says

Saw a GamesRadar piece where some RPG dev was talking about Sony pushing all digital and he basically said discs can't win on convenience and games like GTA 6 are too big for them anyway. He said something like the shift is important, which I guess is true if you're a dev who doesn't want to deal with pressing discs.

I get the convenience side. Not having to swap discs, preloading at midnight, not worrying about scratches. But there's a part of me that still likes having a physical case on the shelf, especially for a game I've waited this long for. I know GTA 6 is going to be massive, and if it's really too big for a single disc then maybe the writing's on the wall.

The dev's argument is that games like GTA 6 are too big for discs anyway, so why keep fighting it. That's fair. Rockstar is probably going to ship a code in a box or make you download most of the game even if there's a disc. I've seen that happen with other games where the disc is basically a license key and you still download 100GB.

What bugs me is the idea that convenience automatically wins. I've got friends who still buy physical because they can resell or lend games, and digital prices on PSN rarely drop as fast as used copies. But for GTA 6 specifically, I'm probably going digital anyway because I want it preloaded and ready on November 19.

Are you guys still planning to grab a physical copy for GTA 6 or have you already accepted the all digital future?
