Insider Gaming dropped a short piece saying GTA 6 reviews will be live before the game releases on November 19. They didn't give an exact date or embargo time, just that it's happening ahead of launch.

That's interesting because Rockstar tends to keep things locked down until the last second. GTA 5 reviews hit the day before launch, RDR2 was basically the same. So "before launch" could mean a full week or just 24 hours. The article doesn't clarify, and I'm not going to pretend it does.

Still, any early review window is a decent sign. Rockstar doesn't usually need to hide a bad game, but they also don't owe anyone early coverage. If outlets are getting code with enough time to actually finish the story and write something thoughtful, that's a change from the usual rush.

I'm more curious about what gets covered. A game this size, reviewers are going to have to pick and choose. Some will mainline the story, some will spend ten hours in the open world and call it a day. The scores will be all over the place for a week.

My take is this probably means review codes are going out soon, maybe right after the next earnings call. That would give outlets a decent window, which is plenty for a first playthrough if they ignore side stuff. But knowing Rockstar, they'll still keep the online portion under wraps until after launch, so reviews will mostly be about the single player.

I'm not reading too much into it yet. A review before launch is nice, but I already know I'm buying it day one. I just want to know if the story holds up.
