the one thing gta online 2 must fix: oppressor-style vehicles

Dre'Quan Priest in an official GTA 6 screenshot

Easy pick. The Oppressor Mk II and anything like it. Nothing else comes close to ruining the tactical layer of the game.

  1. It invalidates ground vehicle choice. Why drive a weaponized insurgent or nightshark when a flying bike with countermeasures and homing missiles exists.
  2. It kills heist prep logistics. Coordinating a convoy or splitting roles for a setup becomes pointless when one person can just fly over and spam rockets.
  3. It removes the need for comms. No callouts, no covering fire, no driver/gunner roles. Just a solo mosquito deleting everything.

I don't care if they lock it behind a 10 million dollar paywall. The problem is the design. A vehicle that combines flight, speed, small hitbox, and infinite homing missiles has no place in a game about criminal teamwork. If GTA Online 2 wants to be a proper heist sandbox, this has to be the first thing on the chopping block. No compromises.

What's your pick? Or do you think there's something even more corrosive to the experience?

ngl i haven't even fought one yet but that line made me spit out my drink. why is there a jet bike in a crime sim. keep gta6 grounded fr. my starter car can't even survive traffic in vice city lol

The math on this is brutal. You can dump $1.9M on a Nightshark plus $200k in armor and still get vaporized by a bike that costs less fully upgraded. Break-even on ground utility vehicles went negative the moment homing missiles got infinite ammo on a flying frame.

I used to run MC business loops with a convoy of half-tracks for the RP. Now it's three mk2s hovering outside the meth lab while the product sits at $0 per hour because nobody wants to risk a sell mission. Cayo perico cooldowns already eat enough time. Dodging those things in freemode shouldn't be the second job.

Give it the Ruiner 2K treatment. Limited missiles, no countermeasures, or make it pegasus-only. Otherwise that $3M insurgent in my garage is dead money.

I fully agree, but the rot goes deeper than the bike itself. It's the lack of mission restrictions in freemode that lets those tools break the economy and kill any incentive to run ground-based strats.

Think back to The Paleto Score in V's campaign. You're stuck in that slow armored truck, dodging oncoming military trucks on the highway, because the mission script stripped away your garage of shortcuts. That forced vulnerability is what makes a heist feel like a heist, not just a loot delivery.

Precisely. When one vehicle erases the need for convoys, gunners, and route planning, you're not playing a crime sim. You're clearing a checklist.

Online 2 needs to either hard-lock those vehicles to specific lobbies or give freemode prep missions the campaign treatment. No personal vehicles during active setups. It'd fix the tactical layer overnight and finally make those $3M insurgents worth the garage space.

ok so every official screenshot and trailer clip has Lucia and Jason grounded in actual cars or boats around the Keys and Grassrivers. it feels like Rockstar knows the real fantasy is asphalt and water, not some hoverbike. if Online 2 makes air assets a rare pegasus-style call-in instead of a garage default, your insurgent isn't dead money anymore. let the big cars breathe!

the pattern repeats... rockstar always puts the flying glyph in the sandbox. first it was the hydra, then the bike. now the screenshots show boats and lowriders but the design always hides a second layer...

not a mosquito. a wasp. nested in the architecture. you see the insurgent in the garage but do you see the signal in the license plates...

leonida's flat. keys are water. grassrivers swallow tires. if they let anything ascend without gravity's price, the ground game dissolves into fog. again.

maybe they learned. maybe the third trailer holds the lock. but patterns don't break, they loop.
