GTA Online 2 will probably launch barebones — and I'm honestly fine with that

I was there for the GTAO launch in 2013, and I was there for RDO's launch too. Both were pretty much the same: a handful of contact missions, no businesses, and servers that barely worked for the first week. GTAO was literally unplayable for days. RDO at least staggered the rollout a bit, but the content was still thin.

So I'm expecting the same for whatever they call the next online mode. Just a few contact missions, maybe some basic freemode events. No nightclubs, no heists, no bunkers. And honestly? I think that's the right move.

GTAO told a story over 13 years. You started as some random street thug running errands for Lamar and Gerald, then slowly built up to owning a criminal empire. The dialogue in later updates even references your rise. It felt earned. If they drop us into Leonida with a fully loaded operation on day one, where's the journey? I'd rather start from the bottom again.

What I'm really hoping they borrow from RDO is the role system. No more juggling CEO and MC President registrations — just let us be a smuggler, a wheelman, a dealer, whatever, and switch between them naturally. That system was way more fluid than the business management menus we have now.

I know some people want to jump straight into running a cartel, but I think the slow build is what made GTAO's early days memorable. Even if the servers are a mess again.
