What does GTA Online 2.0 even look like—and, more to the point, what do we even want from Grand Theft Auto 6 multiplayer?

PC Gamer put up a piece that's basically a big shrug about GTA 6's multiplayer. We know it's coming, Rockstar would be insane not to do a GTA Online 2.0, but we know absolutely nothing about what it'll look like.

I've been thinking about this a lot since the pre-orders opened. I'm not pre-ordering until I see what the online plan is, because let's be real, that's where most of us will spend the next decade. The current GTA Online is a mess of flying bikes, orbital cannons, and menus that take five minutes to load. I don't want that again.

What I want is a fresh start. No character transfers, no billions of dollars carried over. Let everyone begin in Vice City with nothing but a pistol and a dream. I want the early days back, when stealing a car felt like an achievement and you'd actually see other players driving around instead of teleporting across the map.

And please, for the love of god, no Oppressor Mk II. I know Rockstar made a fortune off those things, but they ruined the game's balance. If they want to add crazy vehicles, keep them in their own lobbies or make them mission-only. I'd rather have a more grounded criminal empire, like running a drug operation out of the Keys or smuggling through the swamps.

Also, the anti-cheat needs to be built in from day one. Not bolted on years later. I'm tired of modders spawning UFOs on my head.

I'm not saying it should be a hardcore sim, but a little more immersion wouldn't hurt. Maybe actual consequences for dying, or a reputation system that matters. I just hope Rockstar is listening to what the community has been complaining about for years and not just planning to reskin the same grind.

I'm down for a total wipe. $1.5M per hour means nothing when the break-even on a fresh account is 40 hours.

I'm all for the total wipe. Clean slate. No transferred billions, no flying bikes.

But from my angle, I need a rebuilt wanted system. Give me PD units with actual pursuit doctrine. Roadblocks that work. Spike strips in the Keys. Air support that doesn't just hover like a target dummy.

If we're running grounded crime out of Grassrivers or the swamps, the police response should match. No military tanks. Just proper felony stops and maybe SWAT callouts when the heat gets heavy. Let players outdrive the pursuit. Armor shouldn't beat tactics.

And yeah, day-one anti-cheat. Modders spawning assets mid-chase breaks the whole escalation ladder.

spike strips in the Keys

That could lead to weird desync if the server handles tire blowouts differently from the client. I'm curious whether Grassrivers mud might glitch out a chase if traction values don't sync between players. Seems like a lot could go wrong in a good way.
