GTA 6 Online better not be P2P again, I'm so tired of the random disconnects
I know my internet isn't perfect, but the way GTA Online handles a tiny bit of packet loss is just brutal. I'll be on ethernet, everything's fine, then one little hiccup and suddenly the whole lobby "leaves" at once. It's not my connection completely dropping, it's the P2P setup freaking out over a split-second blip.
Other games? I get a lag spike, maybe rubberband for a second, then it's back to normal. GTA Online? Nope, everyone vanishes and I'm stuck in a solo public session. It's been like this for years and it's honestly the most frustrating part of the whole experience.
RDO is the same deal, still P2P, still the same nonsense. So I'm really hoping Rockstar finally moves to dedicated servers for GTA 6 Online. They've got the money, they've had the time, and the player counts are only gonna be bigger. It feels like the one thing that could actually make the next online mode feel like a real step forward instead of just more of the same with a new coat of paint.
I'm not holding my breath though. They've been running on P2P for so long and it probably saves them a fortune. But man, it'd be nice to not have my session implode because my ISP sneezed.
