ps5 firmware update quietly tightened security ahead of gta 6, apparently

Caught my PS5 pulling down a firmware update last night and didn't think much of it until I saw the Insider Gaming piece saying this one's specifically about security ahead of GTA 6. Sony rolls these out pretty regularly but it's interesting they're tying it to the launch this time.

The update itself is light on details, just the usual improves system security line. No new UI changes or anything I noticed. But with GTA 6 dropping on PS5 and Xbox only, Sony has every reason to make sure their box is locked down before millions of people try to poke at it.

I'm not expecting them to come out and say what they patched. Probably some exploit stuff or something that could be used to mess with the digital launch. Rockstar games always bring out the cheat crowd early, and if there's a way to get ahead of that on the console side, I get why Sony would do a quiet update now instead of mid November.

Part of me wonders if this has anything to do with the physical copies shipping out early or people trying to get into pre-load files. Either way, my PS5 is updated and I'm just sitting here waiting for the game. The console side feels ready, I just need Rockstar to let us pre-load.

Anyone else get this update pushed to them already, and do you think Sony drops one more before the 19th?
