Took off the 19th and 20th to play for my brother

I've got November 19 and 20 off work and I'm not even sorry about it. Four day weekend. My brother would've called me insane for burning PTO on a video game, then he would've asked if he could come over.

Back when GTA 5 dropped I was in high school, freshly licensed, and very grounded. I had a preorder though, so I convinced my mom that I was legally obligated to pick it up on September 17 because it was my brother's birthday and this was his gift. Total lie, obviously. My brother played along perfectly. We spent the whole afternoon passing the controller every time one of us died, just messing around in single player.

At one point we were on that long bridge with the tunnel, playing as Michael. We jacked a station wagon off some NPC and as we peeled away the guy screamed something about it being a piece of shit. We lost it. I've never seen a clip of that line since, and I've looked. Nobody else seems to remember it, but we both heard it and it became this private joke between us for years.

My brother took his own life five years ago. He won't get to see Leonida or Lucia and Jason or whatever Rockstar's been cooking all this time. That part still hits different every time a new trailer drops.

So yeah, I'm taking the 19th and 20th. Long weekend. I'm going to really sink into it for both of us. He would've been absolutely psyched for this. Probably would've texted me at 6am asking if I'd unlocked the Keys yet. I'll have a controller on the couch next to me even if nobody's holding it.
