I'm 25 now, which feels weird to type out. When GTA 5 dropped I was 13 and my parents had zero idea what the game even was. I remember having to basically beg them to grab me a copy from Tesco Express, like full on pleading in the aisle.

Now we've got a locked release date, pre-orders are live, trailers are out, and people are already booking time off work for November. It's hitting me how similar this feels to 2013, except this time I'm the adult with the pre-order instead of the kid hoping his mum doesn't read the back of the box.

The thing that sticks with me most is how much of a jump GTA 5 was from GTA 4. I didn't even know some of that stuff was possible in a game back then. The scale, the switching between characters, the way the world felt alive. It genuinely rewired my brain for what open world games could do.

I'm trying not to overhype myself, but I can't help it. If GTA 6 gives me even half of that same feeling, November is going to be a problem for my sleep schedule.

What's the one thing from the GTA 5 era you're hoping they push even further in 6?

The Tesco pleading got me. My version was telling my dad it was basically a racing game.

What I want pushed further: the wanted system. Five stars in GTA 5 just meant more units and bigger guns. I want real pursuit doctrine. PIT maneuvers, spike strips, air units coordinating with ground crews. Cops that flank instead of sprinting headfirst into my rifle. Give me a reason to surrender at one star instead of shooting my way out every time.

The wanted system point is fair, but my pick is mission replay. I ran GTA 5's story to 100% twice, and hunting gold medals meant replaying whole missions to fix one objective. Let me retry from a checkpoint, or at least track requirements mid-mission. And I'm hoping for another heist on the level of The Big Score. That setup-to-payoff ratio is still unmatched.
