Did watching RDR2's gameplay trailers before launch ruin anything for you? Trying to decide if I should skip the GTA 6 extended look

I've been going back through the old RDR2 gameplay trailers, the ones from 2018 that showed off camp management, the new Dead Eye, horse bonding, all that. Rockstar packed a ton of mechanics into those videos. HUD changes, the cinematic camera, side activities, mission snippets, character introductions. It was a lot.

And now with the GTA 6 extended look hitting Netflix on August 27, I'm sitting here wondering if I should just... not watch. I know I'll be tempted. The hype is real. But I keep thinking about how much of RDR2 I already knew before I ever picked up a controller. Did that make the first playthrough less magical? I can't decide.

For me, I watched every RDR2 trailer and still put 200 hours into the story. The trailers didn't spoil the emotional beats, the quiet moments, the way the world felt alive. They showed mechanics, sure, but experiencing them is different. That said, I do remember wishing I'd discovered the camp interactions on my own instead of seeing them demoed. Little things like Arthur grabbing a bowl of stew or the gang singing by the fire. Those would've hit harder if I'd stumbled into them blind.

I'm curious how others feel. If you soaked up all the RDR2 pre-release footage, did you regret it once you were actually playing? Or did it just make you more excited to get your hands on it? I'm leaning towards watching the GTA 6 extended look because Rockstar's marketing is usually pretty good at teasing without giving away the store. But a part of me wants to go in cold for once. I'll probably cave, though. I'm weak.

I watched every RDR2 trailer and still put 300 hours in. Twenty minutes of footage versus hundreds of hours of actual play? Easy math.

stumbled into them blind

That's a luxury good. Most of us will be grinding MC loops and chasing nightclub income at launch anyway. Your $60 over 300 hours breaks down to $0.20 per hour. Trailer time is basically free hype at $0 per hour.

I watched every RDR2 trailer and I'm glad I did. Arthur grabbing stew is a mechanic. The way the mud sticks to your boots in Chapter 2 or that ride back from Strawberry with the boys singing? No trailer touched that. Rockstar demos systems. They don't demo soul.

stumbled into them blind

I feel that. But going in totally cold on a map this big just means you miss the build sheet. Extended look pops the hood so you know what parts they're swapping in. I'm watching day one.

If you wanna stay blind though? Respect. That's a BOLD move.
