Rockstar's been cooking GTA 6 for 13 years, the doomposting is exhausting

I keep seeing posts and comments acting like Rockstar suddenly forgot how to make games. It's wild. These are the same people who gave us GTA V, RDR2, and basically defined open world games for two decades. Every mainline release they've done has been a masterpiece that pushed the whole industry forward.

Now with GTA 6 they've had roughly 13 years of pre-production and full development, nearly 6,000 people across all their studios, a budget rumored to be around £2 billion, and tech that's probably years ahead of anything else out there. A lot of the core team has been around since the PS2 era. This isn't some new studio taking a swing at an open world game for the first time.

And yet somehow the vibe in some corners is all doubt and hand-wringing. The fact that they're marketing the extended look through Netflix of all places should tell you how massive this thing is. They're treating it like a global entertainment event, not just another game trailer.

I think a lot of the negativity comes from people who weren't around for the hype cycles of San Andreas or IV or V. They don't remember what a Rockstar launch actually feels like. Or they're just addicted to being cynical online. Either way, it's tiring.

We're 100 days out from the biggest game release in history. I'm not worried. They've never missed with a numbered GTA. I'm just gonna enjoy the buildup and let the game speak for itself in November.
