someone got the gta 5 hot dog vendors working and it turned into a massacre

PC Gamer just ran a piece about a modder who finally made the hot dog vendors in GTA 5 actually do something. Rockstar left them as pure decoration for years, and this person decided to fix that. The kicker is the quote at the end: "Higher body count than I was expecting."
That's the most GTA thing I've read all week. You take a completely mundane object, give it functionality, and within minutes it's causing chaos. I don't know exactly what the vendor does now, maybe they sell food that does something weird, or they fight back, or they just attract a crowd that gets run over. The article doesn't go into detail, but the implication is clear: making something interactive in a Rockstar game is a recipe for unintended violence.
It makes me think about all the dead props in GTA 5. The hot dog carts, the newspaper boxes, the ATMs that you can't actually use. Rockstar builds these incredibly detailed worlds and then leaves half the stuff as window dressing. Some of it gets used in missions, some of it just sits there. The modding community has been filling those gaps for a decade.
Now with GTA 6 on the horizon, I'm really curious how many of those little interactions Rockstar will bother to implement. The extended look showed a lot of street life, people eating, talking, going about their day. But will the hot dog vendor actually sell you a hot dog? Will it be a health pickup or just a prop? In GTA 5 you couldn't even buy a soda from a vending machine outside of a store. That always bugged me.
I'm not expecting a full life sim. But if a random modder can make a hot dog cart functional and have it result in a pile of bodies, Rockstar has no excuse for leaving that stuff static in their next game. The bar for environmental interactivity has gone way up since 2013. Games like RDR2 showed they can do it, the general store, the saloon, people reacting to you. GTA 6 should be even better.
Anyway, shout out to whoever did this. Making a hot dog vendor deadly is exactly the kind of unhinged energy this community needs while we wait for November.

Don't bank on it. RDR2 had working general stores and saloons, and Rockstar still shipped GTA 5 with dead ATMs and decorative vending machines. Ambient interactions are exactly the kind of thing that gets trimmed when deadlines close in. Hope I'm wrong. I'd love to buy a hot dog in Leonida. Just not expecting to.
