going dark until November 19th, skipping the extended look and everything else

Made the call last night. I'm not watching the extended look on August 27th. Not watching any promo material at all between now and release. No Twitter, no Instagram, no YouTube thumbnails. Told my friends to keep their mouths shut about anything Rockstar drops.

I know it sounds extreme. But I've been thinking about how this might be one of the last big hype cycles where you can actually go in blind if you want to. Everything's so instant now. You see a trailer, then a breakdown video, then a frame by frame analysis, then a tweet thread about a background detail. By the time the game comes out you feel like you've already played it.

I want to experience Leonida for myself. First time seeing Vice City in the new engine, first time meeting Lucia and Jason properly, first time driving through the Keys. I don't want to know the map layout or the radio stations or what the missions look like. I want that moment where you boot it up and everything is new.

It's going to be tricky. Three months of dodging spoilers. My group chat is already a minefield. I'll probably have to mute this subreddit too, which sucks because I love the speculation threads. But the payoff feels worth it. I remember going into RDR2 mostly blind and that first ride into Valentine was something else. I want that feeling again.

Anyone else doing the same? I know most people will watch the extended look, and that's fine. But for me, the less I know, the better November 19th is going to hit.

See you all on the other side. Or not, since I won't be here.
