anyone else binging florida shows to get in the gta 6 mood?

I'm from Sweden so Florida and Miami have never really been on my radar the way LA or New York are. Those cities show up in everything, but Florida? Not so much. We got Miami Vice back in the day and Scarface obviously, but after that it's been pretty quiet over here.

With GTA 6 coming in November I figured I'd try to soak up as much of that whole region as I can before I'm driving around Leonida myself. So I've been watching a bunch of stuff set down there.

Right now I'm in the middle of Florida Man. Before that I watched Bad Monkey with Vince Vaughn, that R.J Decker thing with Scott Speedman, and I rewatched Ballers with the Rock. None of them are perfect but they all give me that warm, humid, slightly unhinged Florida feeling.

I know a lot of people joke that Florida is just where old folks go to retire and die. But from my very limited outsider perspective it looks like an amazing place to live. The climate, the Cuban food influence, all the water and boats and beaches. I'm used to eight months of winter and darkness so any time I watch something set there I feel a little happier inside.

So I'm curious if anyone else is doing the same thing. What are you watching or reading to get hyped for the Vice City area? Any streaming recommendations for someone who's never been anywhere near Florida?

I respect the homework but I'm saving my Florida binge for after launch. I've been doing this since III so I know the drill. I've only got maybe an hour or two at night once everyone's in bed so I'd rather discover it all firsthand when I'm roaming Leonida in November. Pre-ordered back in June so I'm locked in. The Vintage Vice City Pack should help with the nostalgia too. That whole humidity and chaos vibe is going to be perfect for a GTA map though. And yeah eight months of winter sounds rough. I'll take alligator warnings over frostbite.

I've been rewatching Miami Vice. Nothing else nails that neon humidity. Takes me back to '04 when I first saw Vice City at a friend's place... mind blown. Florida Man is decent though. That chaos fits.

I've been chasing that same humid buzz through playlists instead of shows. Jan Hammer needle drops and some Flash FM energy and I'm already cruising Leonida in my head! The Vintage Vice City Pack is gonna pair perfect with that vibe. November needs to hurry up!
