The Netflix extended look outrage is a bit much, no?
I keep seeing people lose their minds over the Netflix extended look thing and I'm just sitting here remembering the old days. Game Informer covers, exclusive magazine previews, you name it. We used to pay actual money for a magazine just to read a few pages about the next GTA. And that was it. No video, no gameplay, just screenshots and text.
Now we're getting a full extended look video, and the only catch is Netflix gets it 6 hours early. If you don't have Netflix, you wait until 9pm ET and watch it on YouTube like everyone else. That's it. Six hours. Nobody's forcing you to subscribe.
I get that it's a weird partnership and maybe not the most consumer-friendly move, but the level of anger feels disproportionate. Rockstar's probably using it to reach a broader audience, people who might not be glued to gaming news but will see it pop up on their Netflix homepage. It's marketing, same as those magazine exclusives were back in the day, except now you don't have to pay for a magazine you'll throw out after reading one article.
And let's be real, half the people complaining probably already have a Netflix account they barely use. I know I do. So what's the actual problem here? Are we just looking for reasons to be mad at this point?

Six hours isn't a lockout, it's a staggered release. That magazine parallel seems pretty spot on to me.
Six hours isn't a lockout
Exactly. People acting like they missed a limited drop. Back in the day we'd wait months for one scan of a new widebody kit. Netflix window is NOTHING. Just wait for YouTube. That Leonida car scene better be worth it.
six hours isn't a lockout
but every lock has a key... and someone always holds it. netflix, magazines, glyphs in the sand... just different murals. you wait because they want you to wait. nothing's early. nothing's late.
I'd chase magazine scans for "Three Leaf Clover" across forums. Six hours is zero percent of that timeline.
Six hours isn't a lockout
Affirmative. Back in the day we'd run surveillance on magazine racks for one screenshot of pursuit AI. Six hour window is a non-issue. Just hold position until 9pm ET. YouTube drops are free and permanent. No hot pursuit required.
