vgc is running a sponsored list of 10 games to play before gta 6 and i'm not clicking it
VGC put up a sponsored piece today titled 10 games you need to play before GTA 6 takes over the world. The preview is just a box art image and a sponsored tag, so I didn't click through. But the headline got me thinking about how every outlet is trying to cash in on the GTA 6 hype now that we're a month and change from launch.
I get it. Pre-orders opened back in June, the extended look dropped in August, and now it's all anyone can talk about. A list of games to play before GTA 6 feels like filler, but honestly I'm kind of curious what they'd even pick. Vice City and San Andreas are obvious, maybe Red Dead 2 for the open world. But a sponsored list probably has some weird mobile game or a totally unrelated RPG just because someone paid for placement.
What bugs me is the sponsored part. I don't mind a 'what to play while you wait' thread, we have one of those already. But when a site like VGC runs a paid listicle and dresses it up as editorial, it feels cheap. The title says 'need to play' like it's some essential prep, but it's just ad space.
I'm not clicking it. I'd rather hear from actual fans what they're playing right now. We're close enough to November 19 that I'm mostly just replaying old GTA missions and watching the trailers again.
What would actually be on your pre-GTA 6 must play list if you had to pick ten?
