A Lot Of People Are Seemingly Taking Time Off Work To Play GTA 6. Are You?

So BambooHR, the HR software company, just shared some numbers with GameSpot and it's pretty funny. They looked at PTO requests from US employees and found that requests for the third Thursday of November are running 9 to 17 percent above the historical average. That Thursday is November 19. GTA 6 launch day.

They're careful not to say GTA 6 is the reason. Could be people celebrating Jodie Foster's birthday or the Gettysburg Address anniversary, sure. But the signal is there at every checkpoint they measured. It's reproducible. And let's be real, nobody's booking a day off to watch Witch the Showdown hit early access.

The game drops on a Thursday, which is kind of perfect. You take the 19th off, maybe the Friday too if your manager doesn't hate you, and then you roll straight into the weekend. A full playthrough can run around 80 hours, so that's not even enough time to finish. But it's a start.

Also same day, GTA 6: The Album comes out with 34 original tracks. Physical disc for that one, unlike the game which is digital only on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. I'm not a vinyl guy but I might grab the CD just to have something on the shelf while I'm ignoring work emails.

Anyone here actually put in a PTO request for the 19th or the Friday after? I'm tempted but my manager already side-eyed me when I asked about a "doctor's appointment" that week.
