Danganronpa creator delayed his own game so he can play GTA 6, and I'd probably do the same

Kazutaka Kodaka, the guy behind Danganronpa, straight up admitted he pushed back his new game because of GTA 6. The quote from GamesRadar+ is simple: "It was inevitable that we moved the release time." He's not even pretending it was for polish or marketing strategy. The man just knows he won't have time to make a game while playing GTA 6, and I respect that level of honesty.
We've already seen a bunch of titles steer clear of November 2026. Attack on Titan locked in December 10, Fire Emblem's doing a Direct in August but no way they're dropping a game anywhere near Rockstar's launch. But this one hits different because it's not just a publisher making a business decision. It's a creator looking at his own calendar and thinking, "Yeah, I'm gonna be glued to my couch in Vice City, so let's not pretend I'll be productive."
I think that's the real power of a GTA launch. It's not just that other games get overshadowed commercially. It's that the entire industry, including the people making those games, basically shuts down for a few weeks. Devs are fans too. They're gonna be calling in sick, ignoring their own projects, and sinking 60 hours into Leonida just like the rest of us.
Kodaka's new game, The Hundred Line: Last Defense Academy, was supposed to come out earlier but now it's been moved. No new date yet, but he's clearly not in a rush. Smart move. I'd rather play a finished game later than a rushed one that came out because the director was distracted by Jason and Lucia's antics. Rockstar's release date is basically a black hole for the rest of the industry, and I'm here for it.
