Replaying RDR2 just made me realize how massive the GTA 6 leap is gonna be
I've been going through RDR2 again and it still floors me, even 8 years later. The level of detail, the way the world feels alive, the sheer ambition of it. It's the most recent Rockstar game running on the latest RAGE engine, so it's probably the closest thing we have to a preview of what GTA 6 will feel like under the hood.
RDR1 came out in 2010, RDR2 in 2018. That 8 year gap gave us a sequel that felt like a generational leap in every way. Now think about GTA 5, which dropped in 2013. By the time GTA 6 lands in November 2026, that's 13 years. If Rockstar managed to evolve that much in 8 years, what are they going to do with 13? The mind boggles.
I know we've seen the trailers and they look incredible, but playing RDR2 again really drives home how far they've come with AI, physics, and world building. The way NPCs react, the weather systems, the little environmental storytelling moments. All of that is going to be cranked up to 11 in Leonida. I can't even imagine what Vice City is going to feel like with that level of density and detail.
If you haven't touched RDR2 in a while, do yourself a favor and boot it up. It's the best way to remind yourself what Rockstar is capable of when they're firing on all cylinders. November can't come soon enough.
