Saw Insider Gaming had a piece up about Ubisoft doing some new collaborative project for The Division 2, and it's landing right when GTA 6 hits shelves. November 19, if you somehow forgot. So basically Ubisoft is scheduling content for a seven year old looter shooter on the exact week everyone with a console is going to be in Leonida.

I get that not every game can just shut down for the month, but come on. The Division 2 has its diehard fans and all, but you're not going to pull anyone away from Vice City on launch day. My PS5 will be running GTA 6, not whatever Tom Clancy thing they're cooking up.

Maybe it's a preemptive move to have something for people who finish the story fast? But even then, GTA Online is right there. And Rockstar's been pretty clear that the new online stuff is coming soon after. No reason to jump ship for The Division.

Honestly it's kind of funny watching other publishers pretend GTA 6 isn't about to eat the entire industry's lunch. Fortnite's doing the free skins thing, Ubisoft's doing this. Everyone's trying to get their little piece before the black hole opens up.

I'm not mad or anything. I just don't see it working. The Division 2 collab will get a few news posts and then vanish. Meanwhile I'll be 40 hours deep into Lucia and Jason's story by the time anyone remembers Ubisoft exists.

If you're on the fence about The Division 2 anyway, save your time. GTA 6 is three weeks out. That's all that matters right now.
