godzilla remaster devs say they never even thought about gta 6 when picking the date

So the Godzilla Destroy All Monsters Melee remaster is dropping November 3 and the devs at Pipeworks are saying GTA 6 never crossed their minds when they picked that date. Simon Strange, senior designer, told IGN that the whole "will it get crushed by Rockstar" conversation just didn't happen. Atari never brought up sales concerns, nobody panicked, they just picked the date and moved on.
What's funny is November 3 is actually Godzilla's birthday. The original Gojira hit theaters that day in 1954. Strange called putting the remaster out on that date "respectful" and said Godzilla fans would buy it no matter when it launched. Hard to argue with that logic honestly. The kaiju crowd is a different beast.
I keep seeing people online joke that Godzilla and Barbie are the only pop culture icons brave enough to go near GTA 6's launch window. Barbie Rewind is also coming out around then, and Devolver has that Volvy's Adventure thing that's basically a joke remaster of a game that never existed. The industry is so scared of November that a fake game remaster is getting attention just for existing near GTA 6.
Strange's whole attitude is refreshing. "I make the video games. I'm not too worried about when they come out." That's the quote that stuck with me. Most studios are running for the hills and this guy is just vibing because his fans will show up regardless. It's a niche remaster, not a massive open world, so the comparison isn't exactly fair, but still.
I don't think Godzilla will put a dent in GTA 6's numbers obviously. But it's nice to see a dev not treat Rockstar like a natural disaster for once. The November release calendar is basically empty except for these weird little projects and GTA 6 itself. Kind of makes the whole month feel like a ghost town until the 19th.
