nobody is ready for what this game is actually going to be
Been reading through a ton of expectation threads lately and I keep thinking the same thing. Everyone is hyped, sure, but I don't think any of us actually understand the scale of what Rockstar is about to drop. This isn't just another open world game. It's going to set the bar so high that other studios will be chasing it for a decade.
I got into the series through Vice City as a kid. I was way too young to be playing it, but my mum didn't care and honestly I didn't even know what I was doing half the time. I'd just drive around listening to the radio stations. The whole vibe, the neon, the music, that's what hooked me. Now we're getting a modern version of that same city with detail that people will still be discovering years after launch. That's the part that gets me. Not the story or the missions, but the sheer density of little things Rockstar hides in their worlds.
People keep posting their feature wishlists and comparing it to other games, but I think that misses the point. Rockstar doesn't compete with other studios. They compete with their own previous games. And from everything we've seen so far, they're about to blow past RDR2 in ways that will feel unfair to every other developer.
What's the one thing you think will shock people the most when they finally get their hands on it?
