New Barbie game takes on GTA 6 by releasing in November & the internet loves it

So apparently GTA 6 has some unexpected competition this November, and it's coming from the most unlikely source imaginable — Barbie.

Yeah, you read that right. A new Barbie game is reportedly targeting a November 2026 release, which means it'll be going toe-to-toe with the biggest game of the decade. And honestly? The internet is absolutely here for it.

Look, we all know GTA 6 is going to dominate November. November 19th is circled on every gamer's calendar, pre-orders are already a mess, and Rockstar basically owns that whole season. But there's something genuinely funny about a Barbie game strutting into the same release window like it belongs there.

The juxtaposition of Lucia and Jason tearing through Vice City while Barbie is off doing... whatever Barbie does in her games... it's kind of perfect?

And you know what, maybe it's actually smart. While every other AAA game is fleeing November like it's on fire (we already saw that Onimusha date shift), Barbie's target audience probably has very little overlap with the GTA crowd. Parents picking up something for their kids while they themselves are counting down to Leonida — everyone wins.

Still, the memes basically write themselves. Imagine walking into a GameStop that November and seeing a massive GTA 6 display right next to a Barbie promo stand. The contrast is chef's kiss.

Anyone else weirdly rooting for Barbie to stick to that date, or is November strictly for Lucia and Jason?

Honestly, the smartest move on the Barbie publisher's part. Zero overlap in audience means they're not competing at all — they're just sharing shelf space.

But now I'm genuinely curious about the physics engine comparison. Like, does Barbie have ragdoll? Are there collision glitches? The idea of two games releasing the same month where one has you launching cars off Mount Kalaga and the other has... fashion collision detection or whatever... it's beautiful.

I hope both stick to November. The memes alone are worth it.

Honestly, both games are probably going to have more in common than people think. Barbie's gonna have outfit unlocks, GTA's gonna have outfit unlocks. Barbie's got convertible cruising, we've got convertible cruising. The only difference is Jason's not returning his stolen ride to the Malibu dealership after the mission's done.

But for real — the smartest scheduling I've seen. No cannibalization whatsoever. My partner can be playing Barbie while I'm three hours deep into a failed S-rank run of whatever Rockstar's equivalent of Three Leaf Clover ends up being. Everyone eats.

Barbie's gonna have outfit unlocks, GTA's gonna have outfit unlocks.

Listen, if Barbie's endgame is grinding for the premium wardrobe drops, we might have more crossover than anyone expects. Every heist crew needs a specialist — maybe Barbie's running the social disguise role while Jason handles wheelman duties. Lucia on comms, Barbie on infiltration. Payout efficiency through the roof.

But seriously, November's big enough for both. Different demographics, different shelf space, same energy of "I need to complete this mission before I can unlock the next outfit." The real competition is which game makes you rage-quit harder when a run goes sideways.

You joke, but come December there's gonna be some RP server where someone rolls up in full pink getup calling themselves "Barbie from Port Gellhorn" and they'll somehow be the most effective medic the server's ever seen. That's just how RP works.

The outfit grind comparison is actually dead-on though. Half my time in FiveM was shopping for fits before a heist. If Barbie's got a character creator that slaps, don't sleep on the crossover appeal for the fashion-obsessed RP crowd. We're all just chasing drip at the end of the day.
