Bought an Xbox Series X for GTA 6 years ago, now I'm worried the PS5 Pro will be way better
I've been on Xbox my whole life, so when I upgraded three years back I went with the Series X. Figured it'd be the perfect machine for GTA 6. Even got a new TV and sound system around the same time, all with Leonida in mind.
Now I'm seeing all this chatter about how the PS5 Pro is gonna be the definitive way to play. Better performance, maybe some exclusive graphics mode, who knows. And I'm sitting here with my Series X like an idiot, wondering if I backed the wrong horse.
I can't afford to drop another $700+ on a Pro right now. The pre-order window came and went and I just watched it pass. So I'm stuck with what I've got. Is the gap really gonna be that noticeable? Or is this just the usual pre-launch console war noise?
Rockstar optimized the hell out of RDR2 for base PS4 and Xbox One, and those machines were ancient by 2018 standards. The Series X is still a beast. I doubt they're gonna let the Xbox version be a slideshow while the Pro gets all the love. Maybe some slightly softer shadows or a less stable 60fps, but nothing that'll ruin the experience.
I'm just gonna enjoy the game on the hardware I have. If it really bothers me down the line, I'll pick up a Pro when there's a price drop or a bundle. For now, I'm not letting FOMO eat me alive before the game even drops.
