$2 billion later, I'm not convinced GTA 6 will do more for me than a PS2 and San Andreas

I've been going back and forth on this for weeks now. Everyone's counting down to November 19, pre-orders are in, the extended look got people hyped. But I keep coming back to the same thought. I might just fire up my old PS2 and play San Andreas instead.

It's not that I think GTA 6 will be bad. I'm sure it'll be incredible. But will it actually do more for me than San Andreas did? I don't know. That game had everything. The map felt huge, the story was ridiculous in the best way, and the freedom was unreal for its time. I still remember just driving around listening to K-DST for hours.

And here's the thing. Getting a PS2 up and running these days is stupid easy. You can find them for cheap, the games are everywhere, and you don't need a fancy setup. Just plug it in, pop in the disc, and you're back in 2004. No day one patch, no install times, no online requirement. Just you and CJ.

I know some people will call me crazy. Why would I skip the biggest game of the decade for a 20 year old console? But I've been burned before by hype. I remember waiting for GTA 5 and thinking it would change everything. It was great, but after a while I went back to San Andreas anyway. There's something about that era of Rockstar that just hits different.

Maybe I'll pick up GTA 6 eventually. But for launch day, I think I'll be in my living room with a PS2 controller in my hands. And honestly, that sounds perfect.

Fair take, but as someone who has 100% completed San Andreas three times, I'd say its mission design earns that loyalty. "End of the Line" alone justifies a replay. Still, I'm not skipping November 19. Rockstar rarely regresses on mission variety, and I've got GTA 5's campaign at 100% too. You can do both. CJ will still be there in December.

coming from the RP side, san andreas basically invented our whole scene. SA-MP servers in 2007 doing taxi jobs and janky gang wars, that was the blueprint for everything fiveM turned into a spectator sport. so i get the pull. still grabbing GTA 6 day one though. whatever leonida gives the RP crowd is gonna matter more than any singleplayer replay
