Zelnick says GTA 6 is an 'incredible bargain' at $80, and honestly I can't argue

Strauss Zelnick was on about the price again, and this time he's calling GTA 6 an 'incredible bargain' at $80. I saw the quote floating around from Insider Gaming and had to laugh. Of course the CEO is gonna say that, but the more I think about it, the more I'm like... yeah, fair.

We're getting the standard edition for $79.99 and the Ultimate Edition for $99.99. Pre-orders went live back in June with that Vintage Vice City Pack thrown in. People were groaning about the $10 bump from the usual $70, but let's be real, we all clicked buy anyway. The pre-order numbers have been insane, so clearly nobody's that bothered.

Zelnick's point is basically that for the amount of hours we're gonna sink into this thing, it's a steal. I've got friends who put 2,000 hours into GTA Online and never spent a dime past the base game. If GTA 6 gives us a massive single player campaign plus whatever Online 2.0 looks like, $80 is nothing. Hell, I've paid $70 for 15 hour games and felt fine about it.

The Ultimate Edition at $100 is a tougher sell for me personally, but I know people who grabbed it just for the extra goodies. The Vintage Vice City Pack is a nice nod to the old fans too. Rockstar knows their audience.

Zelnick's job is to keep shareholders happy, so of course he's gonna frame it like we're getting a deal. But when you look at the scope of what they're building, he's not exactly wrong. I just hope the game actually delivers on that value come November.
