"I don't think it's worth any amount of money" - Controversial real-life GTA 6 advertising campaign passed by City of Miami, but brand can only appear "discreetly"

So the city of Miami Beach voted to move forward with negotiations for a GTA 6 marketing campaign. Rockstar would pay millions to put ads around the seaside city. The catch is the branding has to be "discreet" whatever that means for a game about crime sprees.

One commissioner apparently said something like "I don't think it's worth any amount of money" which is a wild take for a city that lives off tourism. But it passed anyway.

I get why they'd want the cash. Miami Beach is basically the real life Vice City, and having GTA 6 billboards up during launch week would be free press for the city too. But discreet ads for a game where you can probably steal a boat and run over tourists feels a little funny.

Still, if Rockstar is dropping millions just on one city's ad campaign, the marketing budget for this game must be insane. We already saw Netflix get a bump from the extended look. Now they're buying real estate in Florida.

I'm curious what "discreetly" actually means. No giant Lucia face on Ocean Drive? Just small logos on bus stops? Either way, November is going to be impossible to ignore.
