Zelnick says don't expect a GTA 6 price drop anytime soon, they kept GTA V at full price for years

Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick basically told anyone waiting for a discount to get comfortable. In a new interview he pointed to how they handled GTA V's pricing, kept it at full price for a very long time, and said the same philosophy applies to VI.
We all remember how GTA V sat at $60 forever. Even years after launch, you'd rarely see it drop below that unless there was some platform-wide sale. And now with the base game at $80 and the Ultimate Edition at $100, it's not hard to imagine those numbers sticking around well past launch.
Zelnick's logic is that they deliver so much value that the price holds. And honestly, looking at how GTA V kept selling year after year, he's not wrong. People will pay. The question is how long before we see a permanent price cut, not just a temporary sale. GTA V took what, three or four years before the standard edition officially dropped? And that was on last-gen hardware.
With VI being current-gen only and no PC version even announced yet, I'd bet we're looking at a similar timeline. Maybe even longer if the online component takes off the way they're hoping. They've got no reason to rush a discount when pre-orders are already through the roof.
What do you think, how many years before we see GTA 6 hit that first permanent price drop?

Zelnick can call it value all day. It's just a captive market. We'll pay it because it's GTA.
