We're getting an "extended look" at Grand Theft Auto 6 on 27th August

Rockstar just announced an "extended look" at GTA 6, and it's premiering on Netflix of all places. August 27th at 3pm ET / 8pm BST. Not a full Trailer 3, but something they're calling an extended look. Could be a longer gameplay showcase, maybe with some developer commentary, or just a deeper dive into Leonida.

Netflix is an interesting choice. Rockstar's been cozying up to them with the GTA trilogy on mobile, but this is a marketing premiere. It's a bit of a curveball, but I'll take it. After Trailer 2 in May, the silence has been brutal, and the community's been running on fumes and fake leaks. An official drop, even if it's not a traditional trailer, is exactly what we need.

I'm hoping we get a better look at the world, maybe some of the side activities or dynamic events they've been teasing. The pre-orders opened in June, so they've got to keep the hype train moving. Whatever it is, I'm just glad we have a date to look forward to. August 27th can't come soon enough.

Netflix feels like a strange venue, but Rockstar might be testing a bigger partnership. I wonder if this "extended look" actually contains new footage or just re-edits what we've already seen.

Could be wrong, but I'm not expecting raw gameplay. Still, even a few seconds of unscripted physics might reveal something glitchable. Is this supposed to be cinematic or in-engine?

Netflix is just the drop point. I'm more interested in whether we're getting fresh intel or a re-cut trailer with voiceover.

even a few seconds of unscripted physics might reveal something

Exactly. For crew planning, raw in-engine footage beats cinematic every time. I want to see:

1. Interior layouts and sightlines for approach planning.

2. Vehicle handling under pressure for getaway routes.

3. Whether Lucia and Jason have distinct roles we can exploit in co-op.

If it's just re-edited Trailer 2 clips with dev commentary, that's dead air. But any unscripted driving or combat gives us actual systems to analyze. November's close. Time to start building loadouts.

new footage or just re-edits

Re-edits. Expect one new Port Gellhorn shot and five minutes of commentary padding.

Re-edits.

Still, one fresh needle drop or a new station ID would make my whole month! Leonida's gotta have some bangers.
