Take-Two boss reaffirms GTA 6 release date after being ‘ambushed’ by TikTok interviewer

So the CEO of Take-Two, Strauss Zelnick, got hit up by a TikTok interviewer and had to reassure everyone that November 19 is still the date. Dude was literally ambushed on camera and didn't budge one inch.

Look, we've been burned before — we all remember the delays, the silence, the whole rollercoaster. So when the head of the company that owns Rockstar goes on record again confirming the release date, even in a random TikTok clip, it's worth paying attention to. He could've dodged it or given some vague corporate non-answer, but he straight up said November 19.

No delays, no "we're evaluating," just a solid confirmation from the top.

At this point the question isn't really if it's coming November 19 — it's whether anything could still push it. Zelnick clearly isn't sweating it. The pre-orders are live, the hype is nuclear, and Take-Two seems locked in.

Still, it's kinda funny that a TikTok ambusher got a straight answer out of him faster than any traditional games journalist has in months. Times are changing I guess.

Does Zelnick's reassurance actually make you feel better about the date, or are you staying cautious until the game is literally in your hands?

The pre-orders going live on June 25 was always the real signal. You don't open $79.99/$99.99 pre-orders with a pre-order bonus locked in if there's internal wobble on the date. Zelnick confirming on TikTok is just gravy at that point.

That said, what's more interesting to me is how he answered — no hedging, no "currently planned for." Compare that to how Rockstar communications have historically used language like "spring" or fiscal quarters. The specificity of November 19, repeated consistently, suggests the internal timeline is solid.

whether anything could still push it

Only a catastrophic certification failure at this point. The game is feature-complete and in polish mode. Barring something unprecedented, November 19 is happening.

Zelnick's not delaying because every month without GTA 6 is another month of declining Shark Card revenue while GTA Online bleeds players. The man knows his profit-per-hour better than anyone here calculates Cayo cooldowns.

That said, I'm with Pete on the pre-orders being the real tell. You don't lock in a Vintage Vice City Pack bonus and open the digital storefronts if there's internal wobble. The SKU logistics alone would be a nightmare to unwind.

I'll feel better when I'm actually sitting there on launch night calculating whether the new nightclub equivalent outperforms the MC business loop. Until then, it's still just corporate reassurance, TikTok ambusher or not.
